Fort Hamilton Military Base

As part of energy efficiency upgrades at the Fort Hamilton Military Base, E&LP was tasked with performing geotechnical investigation, foundation design, and structural evaluation of existing roof structures. A full geotechnical investigation was performed of the site’s parking lots on variable fill soils. Foundation designs were prepared for proposed solar canopies over these areas. Multiple building roofs were investigated and found to be structurally adequate to allow for the installation of solar systems. During construction, the development contractor determined that they needed to remove soils from the project site. The material was determined to require proper disposal as potential contaminated material. Needing an immediate solution to allow construction to continue, E&LP was engaged to provide environmental testing and coordinate the disposal of the material. All testing and disposal was completed within 2 weeks and coordinated around the construction project so not a single day was lost in the process.
