MCPC Farm History Trail and Reed Farm Trailhead

E&LP designed the trail and trailhead improvements on behalf of the Mercer County Park Commission. The “Farm History Trail” runs though the larger 270 acre Mercer Meadows Park area. In this particular area of the park the last remaining vestige of the previous use on the site is preserved in the single pole seen above which used to be part of an AT&T Pole Farm.

The trail begins at the historic Reed Farmstead shown above. The historic farm building, fire pits, and mature oak trees are preserved to frame the surrounding native meadows and integrate site improvements into the park. The trailhead addresses the needs of several user groups including, pedestrians, bikers, and vehicles. Ample parking is provided via a gravel parking area with natural timber rail. Signage, seating, tables, trash, and recycle amenities are all provided for as well.
