New Jersey has taken several important steps to combat the effects of climate change by instituting statewide policy changes related to energy, sustainability, and stormwater management. The state was hit as hard by Superstorm Sandy as any locale in the Northeast, which prompted local, regional, and state entities to evaluate their emphasis on resiliency in the planning and design of both private and public development.
On January 27, Governor Murphy published the 2019 Energy Master Plan: Pathway to 2050 with sweeping policy goals aimed at mitigating climate change. The message is clear: New Jersey is positioning itself to be a leader in responsible growth based upon sustainable planning and development practices. In the design community, these pioneering changes create an opportunity to work with our clients in an innovative manner. Through collaboration and thoughtfulness, E&LP and its clients can achieve a project’s development and economic goals while integrating socially and environmentally conscious design and construction practices.
