Since 2008, Philadelphia has celebrated Parking Day to raise public awareness to the need for green, public spaces in urban environments. Philadelphia’s park space skyrockets for one day each year as activists, artists, architects, engineers, and other citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks.
E&LP has participated in Parking Day for the past 4 years and we are really excited about our installation this year! On the 200th block of Market Street, you’ll find our educational space with interactive minigolf courses that symbolize grey and green stormwater management methods. We’ve built the courses to highlight the differences between the two methods and highlight the benefits of green infrastructure; which is designed to capture rainfall wherever it falls and reduce localized flooding, but also mimic nature and improve community aesthetics.
Take a stroll over to the 200th block of Market Street on Friday, September 15th to show off your minigolf skills and learn more about stormwater management! Our engineers, Peter Canevari and Jake McGillen will be at the spot to answer any and all questions you may have. Hope to see you there!
