E&LP has been supporting HomeWorks Trenton, a nonprofit that helps high school girls in the Trenton Community with school work and other needs, by providing pro bono survey, engineering, and environmental services. The nonprofit is in the process of renovating a house in Trenton, and E&LP and other professionals have been donating their time and services to aid this excellent organization’s expansion. Founded in 2016, HomeWorks Trenton manages “a free, after-school residential program for marginalized high school girls that provides academic and social-emotional enrichment activities to supplement public schools and build community leaders.”[i]

HomeWorks inspires and equips young women from marginalized communities to achieve their potential and positively transform the world around them by providing a supportive and educational residential environment.

Community Statement

HomeWorks aims to work alongside our scholars to disrupt the narrative that Black and Latinx girls’ lives are defined by the cyclical effects of systemic injustice. We accomplish this by providing a space to explore and reclaim power over their experiences, cultures and identities
