E&LP’s team of volunteers is eager to participate again in the Raritan Headwaters 31st Annual Stream Cleanup on 4/17. We are glad to help the Raritan Headwaters Association (RHA), a nonprofit that has “served as the watchdog for the 470-square-mile North and South Branch Raritan watershed” for over 60 years.[1] The South Branch flows just south of E&LP headquarters in High Bridge, so this cleanup effort makes both a local and large-scale impact on this invaluable natural resource: “Throughout this beautiful region, countless pristine tributaries merge and flow into the North and South Branches of the Raritan River. Safeguarding these ‘headwaters’ means clean, safe water for 300,000 watershed residents and 1.5 million New Jerseyans living downstream in more urban areas that depend on the water that comes from our rivers and reservoirs.”[2] Consider what you can do to improve your local watershed.
