Mental Health has become a regular topic of conversation in both personal and professional settings, and we are glad for it! E&LP encourages work-life balance and cherishing what is important in life-which can look different from person to person. Open-door policies and providing safe spaces for transparency are small, yet impactful, ways we intentionally invest in our employees’ well-being. All our staff also have access to resources like WellWorks for You, a health wellness program that promotes health literacy and healthy habits and provides access to solutions that go beyond the office.

In honor of World Mental Health Day, here are some simple tips and practices to add to your routine that can help improve your mood and overall quality of life:

  • Practice gratitude – celebrate both small and large victories, focusing on hope, growth, and positivity in yourself and others.
  • Practice self-care – take a walk, read a book, listen to music, or get creative with arts and crafts.
  • Prioritize sleep – sufficient sleep can increase concentration, productivity, and your ability to respond to everyday stressors.
  • Value yourself – choose affirmations that will build your confidence and avoid negative self-talk.
  • Connect with others – it can be through a text or phone call, but find ways to develop healthy relationships and social support.
  • Start the day with realistic goals – one achievable goal per day, even a small one, can help boost self-esteem and feelings of accomplishment.

No matter how many practices you choose to benefit your mental health, make sure you commit to it and make it a priority! Even small, easily attainable changes can make a world of difference.
