AKRF, Inc., a multidisciplinary consulting firm based in New York City, has acquired the assets of Engineering & Land Planning Associates, Inc., bringing together two premier East Coast companies specializing in planning, engineering, design, environmental science, and construction support services. The acquisition took effect March 1, 2024.

E&LP is a multidisciplinary engineering firm creating thoughtful, practical, and context appropriate designs for local communities. Founded in 2000, the company has grown and evolved to employ 40 professionals and staff. E&LP’s sustainable approaches and forward-thinking design have received honorable recognition from industry organizations for engineering design, green stormwater management, environmental enhancement, and sustainable innovation.

“This is an exciting day for both organizations,” said Karen Franz, President and CEO of AKRF, and Eric Raes, President and CEO of E&LP, in a joint statement. “The employees of AKRF and E&LP share common values, a selfless commitment to collaboration, and a genuine enthusiasm for improving the built and natural environments for future generations. Our professionals, clients, and communities all stand to benefit from this partnership.”

The acquisition expands AKRF’s footprint in New Jersey and Philadelphia and bolsters its team of civil, water resources, and environmental engineers, urban planners, and landscape designers. Both firms serve public, private, and institutional clients in the land development sector, including prominent owners and developers of residential, commercial, industrial, civic, healthcare, and academic real estate along with parks, playgrounds, and open space.

Founded in 1981, AKRF now employs nearly 400 professionals and staff in offices throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia along with full-time remote employees throughout the country. The company’s projects have earned numerous awards for technical excellence from industry organizations and AKRF was honored in 2023 by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York for leadership in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
