E&LP is the prime design consultant for the Quarry Lawn and Walk Project which enhances the Paterson Great Falls National Historic Park along the Passaic River. Along with the National Park Service, E&LP is developing the Quarry Lawn & River Walk into a public park that simultaneously honors, restores, and preserves aspects of the historic remnants of the property while making the site safe and accessible for residents as well as creating a new space for organized programs and events.
Late 19th-century factory ruins will be replaced with open-air historical exhibits, an open lawn area, and the first stretch of what will be a continuous riverwalk along the Passaic River. The park may be introduced to the public as early as next June, with the Alexander Visitors Center to be next on the construction list. National Park Service Superintendent Darren Boch believes, “This creates the combination of a natural experience and historical experience that will make you want to come back here.” This $7.9 million effort will help maintain the public use of the land while preserving its history.
