During July’s planning board meeting, Hopewell Borough approved E&LP’s variance and site plan for an adaptive reuse project that involves the inventive conversion of a historic single-family home known as the Runyon House and two onsite barns into apartment units. A new barn with two additional units will also be built on the site to complete this low impact development (LID) with green infrastructure including multiple bioretention basins. For this 2.3-acre property, the overall design attempts to mimic an active farm in its design by utilizing nontraditional surfaces, reusing historic features, and maintaining the existing landscape to create a unique site layout which honors the character of the area.
