We are excited to announce that the City of Newark’s Planning Board unanimously approved a three-story mixed-use building on 16th Avenue, which is guided by the West Ward Model Neighborhood Initiative Redevelopment Plan.[1] Currently a vacant lot, this new residential and commercial construction will include “two separate retail tenant spaces, one ADA-accessible apartment on the ground floor and eight additional apartments across the second and third floors.”[2]
E&LP’s Executive Vice President, Wayne Ingram, presented at the meeting as engineer and planner, and the firm provided engineering and landscape architecture services including permitting, preliminary & final site plan, and stormwater management design. With the building occupying 85% of the property, creative stormwater design was employed consisting of four (4) underground detention systems throughout the site to mitigate site runoff.
