We are committed to creating inclusive spaces not only in our workplace at E&LP, but with our clients. This week we celebrated the day the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law back in 1990, prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life. We believe generating design elements and features that accommodate all abilities enhances everyone’s experience with those spaces and with each other. Projects like the McKinley Park Tot Lot in Lansdowne, PA, the Pennypack Park Playground in Philadelphia, PA, and the Northwest Resiliency Park in Hoboken, PA all include accessible components. Additionally, the Abington Inclusive Park & Playground in Abington, PA goes beyond basic ADA compliance to establish true inclusivity through equitable play. The designs are intended for the entire community to enjoy side by side together, from accessible paths of travel to play equipment that also provides a variety of sensory experiences. Working alongside Studio Ludo and the community, we will build an inclusive environment that creates a sense of belonging. The idea is that when we include everyone in our designs, we make way for solutions that we all benefit from.
