E&LP’s Ed Confair, Senior Program Manager of Resiliency, and Clare Moriarty, Project Engineer, virtually presented at NJ-AWRA’s Fall 2020 Stormwater Management Seminar: Mitigation of Harmful Algal Blooms on Friday, November 13th.

“The Stormwater Committee of the NJ-AWRA continues to sponsor a seminar series that allows for education and discussion of different stormwater related topics. The Fall 2020 seminar will be held as a virtual webinar and will focus on mitigation of harmful algal blooms in New Jersey, showcasing 4 projects that have received funding under the NJDEP HABs grant program.”

E&LP is doing our part in helping mitigate harmful algal blooms (HABs) in New Jersey’s lakes. We are proud to support the NJDEP in its HAB Prevention projects, and we hope more lakes will be open for recreation this year.

“Rosedale Lake in Hopewell Township, Mercer County is owned and managed by Mercer County Park Commission and is located within Mercer Meadows. The lake has an extensive drainage area of currently unfiltered runoff and has experienced some of the highest HAB cell counts in New Jersey over the past few years. The goal of the funded project is to manage water quality conditions via structural practices to decrease the nutrient concentrations within the lake. This will be accomplished via the installation of an aerator device, barley bales and constructed floating wetlands. These various practices are designed to prevent the introduction of additional nutrients into Rosedale Lake and to reduce internal nutrient loading.”
