E&LP is working with the Lindy Family Charitable Trust on an ambitious initiative called Fiesta School Yards. The mission of the initiative is to provide an affordable and easily permittable kit of parts for playground play equipment.
E&LP has worked to develop over 30 options including pavement games, gabions seats, stages, maps, instruments, boulder and stump seating, and other play elements.
E&LP has worked with Lindy, The Big Sandbox, Studio Ludo, and the School District to develop details that meet accessibility and safety standards while remaining non-invasive to breaking the ground. This approach has been moving forward at eight different schools so far included AB Day, Edmonds, Pennypacker, Ellwood, Rowen, McCloskey, Howe, and Fitler with the intention of doing more schools on a regular basis.
The approach allows for schools with tighter budgets to activate their school yards quickly and with less regulatory encumbrance while larger more funding intensive plans take shape.
