E&LP is the civil engineer working with OLIN and Studio Ludo on the schoolyard greening project for Trust for Public Land (TPL). The design seeks to activate the entire schoolyard with a combination of recreational, play, and natural outdoor learning spaces. Proposed site improvements include play equipment, a basketball court, turf field, outdoor classroom, and several raingarden areas. E&LP has overseen the development of all green stormwater infrastructure systems and regulatory permitting requirements. We have also worked with TPL and the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) to analyze the potential for adjacent right-of-way stormwater capture and management on the school site. Through the PWD grant program we have been able to design a secondary subsurface stormwater system to provide additional management for this purpose beyond the surface bio-retention systems.
