We are excited to share construction progress for Sgt. George Ashby Memorial Park in Allentown, New Jersey, a park dedicated to the “last remaining New Jersey Civil War Veteran” whose name is on “Plaque #C-58 … on the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington, DC.”[1] E&LP is currently overseeing construction on Phase I of the project that will see the central connective paths of the park installed with permeable pavement upholding the sustainability goals of the project as well as Allentown Borough.
Our team is also hard at work envisioning Phase II of the project which will focus on establishing a native meadow on site, interpretive signage, and a monument area dedicated to Sgt. George Ashby. These construction photos are from a recent site inspection of the rough grading and site clearing for the porous asphalt paths as part of Phase I of the park design. The park’s anticipated Phase I construction completion is Spring of 2021.
